The Courage of a Woman is NOT Enough. November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month and for the fifth year, shelters across Ontario are asking their communities to become engaged by purchasing a purple scarf. My Friend’s House in Collingwood is one of them. The purple scarf stands as a show of support to women who have experienced domestic violence. It is a visual reminder that they are not alone and that their community cares about them. It states that every woman has a fundamental right to live in safety and security. It takes courage for a woman to leave her abuser. And her courage alone is not enough. It is the strength of an entire community that will end violence against women. During November, you can join us by purchasing and wearing a purple scarf. This solid purple, stylish and cozy acrylic scarf is just $20 and makes a really great stocking stuffer or gift. 100% of the profit will continue to provide emergency shelter, lifesaving outreach and transition services as well as specialized children’s programs. You can purchase them online at: www.myfriendshouse.ca and clicking on the Purple Scarf. You can also purchase them at our incredible community partners: to see a list of our partners please visit our website.
